Moscow Mule Recipe: 

• 5 cl vodka
• 1 cl simple syrup
• Juice from half a lime
• Ginger beer

Although the name of this cocktail conjures thoughts of Russian cold, the Moscow Mule is said to have originated in sunny California. In 1941, two resourceful gentlemen came up with a brilliant idea that paved the way for vodka to become one of the most popular spirits in the American market. John G.

Martin, who owned the spirits company Heublin Inc. – and held the rights to Smirnoff Vodka in the USA – teamed up with a man named Jack Morgan, who owned the Cock ’n’ Bull bar in Los Angeles and produced his own ginger beer. Together, they created the Moscow Mule, which, with its tangy lime flavor and hint of ginger, helped elevate the relatively unknown vodka.

This is traditionally made with vodka, but can be made with much more than just vodka. You might also try it with dark rum or pisco.
